I think mannequins are braver and more confident than Seattle area drivers. Slowest mergers in the woooorld.

What hours do y’all work up here? I’ve gotten on I5 at 3 and it’s like this.

Damn hippies and your 20 hour work weeks!

More shy/timid/polite/indecisive than Portland drivers? “45 mph zone on a 6-lane freeway? Better keep it under 35!”

No, Portland drivers are worse.

Oregon does have weird unjustifiable low limits and Portland is a magnet for the inept, I will give you that.

In the Seattle area, little aggravates me more than being behind a Lexyotaonda SUV/minivan merging onto 90 or 405 - they rarely get up to 40 even if traffic is flowing at 60 (it’d be moving at 70+ back east, of course).

Indeed. I used to think Illinios was ridiculous with their speed limits... Oregon is so much worse. I think it’s just a way to feed the cash cow known as photo radar.

No doubt there’s a revenue component to it, although those who gain a meal ticket from the industry will claim it is about safety, think of the children, other bullshit.

Shitty traffic laws (and incompetent/inconsistent enforcement) are key reasons why respect for law enforcement is so low.

agree - we have lots of folks that get on at 47 jacking up everybody behind them and then immediately jump to the middle lane jacking up all those people too... Plus, tunnels and bridges and any curves are scary - so better slow way down for them too...

Rain - hit the brakes. Snow - hit the brakes. Ice - hit the brakes. Fog - hit the brakes. Sun - hit the brakes. Clouds - hit the brakes. And of course, hit the brakes for tunnels, bridges, curves, other cars, pedestrians on the sidewalk, etc.

It’s really fun merging on to 90 at Bellevue Way or Factoria.
